Fixed Term Digital Developer


£32-35,000 per annum

The Royal Opera House produces some of the best opera and ballet in the world. Our website, www.roh.org.uk, is central to our activities, providing an essential information service and marketing tool.

We are now looking for an all-round digital developer to work across the Royal Opera House digital portfolio, principally on the continued development of the website but projects may also include email marketing, digital screens, microsites, social media and apps. The Royal Opera House website relaunched with a top to bottom overhaul in 2012 as it looks to create the technical platform that will secure the digital future of one of the world`s greatest performing arts venues and the home of The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet. As a member of the Digital Development team you will be required to design, develop, deploy, iterate and maintain server-side and client-side code within our LAMP stack for a full range of products and services. The position is offered as a fixed term contract for one year.

The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with these qualities:

  • The skills and experience to design and develop server-side and client-side code, primarily PHP, for a range of platforms
  • Sound technical understanding of the principles of web development: HTTP, URI and HTML
  • Knowledge of relational database systems and experience of web application frameworks
  • A track record of working collaboratively in a team environment
  • Well developed analytical skills and good documentation skills
  • A related certification in the field of programming or development
