Head of Model Room

£40,000 per annum

The Royal Opera House produces some of the best opera and ballet in the world and is seeking to appoint a Head of Model Room.

The Head of Model Room manages the Model Room team, ensuring production of working drawings and models, distributing the design information required by the various workshops, technical and stage personnel for all new productions, tours and revivals.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Very high standard of scenic draughting, and a thorough understanding and experience of AutoCad, theatre engineering and construction;
  • Experience of managing a small team with good organisation and communication skills;
  • Demonstrable detailed specialist knowledge of scenery construction, materials, paint and finishing processes; and
  • Able to plan and organise a busy and varied workload for self and the team, to work under pressure with a high level of organisational proficiency, ensuring that project deadlines are met while keeping routine tasks up-to-date.
