Head Armourer


One year fixed term contract

The Royal Opera House is currently seeking to appoint a Head Armourer to lead the Armoury team. Spending part of their time in the workshop, making and repairing weaponry, armoury, leatherwork props and related equipment, the job also involves working evenings and weekends overseeing the use of weaponry during rehearsals and performances.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant team supervision experience
  • Significant experience handling weapons in a theatrical environment.
  • Extensive practical knowledge and experience of woodworking, metalwork, welding, brazing and soldering.
  • Highly developed leather-working craft skills.
  • A detailed understanding of the rehearsal and performance demands of a busy theatrical environment.
