Daily Team Stage Technician (Stage bias)


(Grade 1) £30,050 per annum

The Royal Opera House produces some of the best opera and ballet in the world. Our Technical Department plays a leading part in ensuring our performances are of the highest quality by delivering technical excellence for every performance and rehearsal.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Stage Technician with a stage bias.

The work entails assembling and setting scenery, hangings and props, rigging, special effects and lighting. Working on a day on/day off shift basis in a large team, the technician will work primarily with a stage bias. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player and communicator with:

  • A strong technical track record in running live theatre rehearsals and performances establishments primarily for the staging of opera and ballet productions;
  • Demonstrable experience in all key technical areas, particularly with stage bias: stage, engineering, flying, rigging, props, lighting and sound; and
  • Excellent technical skills with good knowledge of mechanical handling equipment and systems.

In addition, any professional mechanical, carpentry electrical, or computer skills would be advantageous. Awareness of Health and Safety legislation is desirable, and appropriate Health and Safety training is provided.
