Fixed Term Contracts, £38,989.20 per annum

1 Maternity cover contract up to 12 monthsduration (48 hours per week)

1 Maternity cover contract until 1 March 2018 (48 hours per week)

1 Fixed Term contract until 31 August 2018 (24 hours per week)

The Royal Opera House aims to enrich people`s lives through opera and ballet. Home to two of the world`s great artistic companies - The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet, performing with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House - the organisation seeks to be accessible and engaging, to develop audiences across the UK and to break new ground in the presentation of lyric theatre. Last year we staged 519 performances, performing to 1.5 million people at our home theatre and in cinemas, with 44% of the tickets sold costing less than £50.

We are currently looking for an experienced Wig & Make Up Technician to join our busy team to work mainly with artists of the Royal Ballet. The work involves wig making and styling, hair cutting and styling, make up and special effects for all theatrical, media and television productions of the Royal Opera House.

The ideal candidate will be a positive teamplayer with:

  • A relevant qualification, e.g. HND or degree level course in Costume, Wigs & Make Up for the Performing Arts, and ideally the City & Guilds hairdressing diploma and make up course.
  • Substantial qualified experience in wigs and make up, with excellent skills in hairdressing, wig, make up and prosthetic techniques.
  • Creativity, efficiency and flair in interpreting the designer`s brief.
  • Excellent communication skills in dealing with artists and people at all levels.
  • Ability to work effectively either independently or in a team and collaborating closely with colleagues to achieve deadlines and targets.
