Assistant Stage Manager (Opera)


£36,303.72 per annum

The Royal Opera House produces some of the best opera and ballet in the world. Each year performances by The Royal Ballet, The Royal Opera, and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House entertain millions of people, on stage at Covent Garden, on tour at home and abroad, and through regular radio and television broadcasts. Our Stage Management Team plays a key part in delivering technical excellence at every performance and rehearsal.

We are now looking for a professional, experienced Assistant Stage Manager to join our Stage Management Team, working primarily with The Royal Opera. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with:

  • Professional Stage Management experience in lyric theatre, ideally with experience of Operatic productions.
  • Good music score reading and prompt book preparation skills.
  • A good understanding of Opera related skills or repertoire.
  • Proven project management and documentation capabilities, with proficient Microsoft Office skills.

A good understanding of Opera related skills and repertoire is desirable but not essential. The working practice of the Royal Opera House and its repertoire involves shift work, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, as well as annual touring.
