Deputy Head of Props

The Royal Opera House produces some of the best opera and ballet in the world and is seeking to appoint a Deputy Head of Props to join our established Props Department.

The Deputy Head of Props will assist in managing the props workshop and will manufacture, repair and modify stage props for the Royal Opera and Royal Ballet, in accordance to the highest international standards. In the absence of the Head of Props the Deputy will be responsible for ensuring that the props function operates in line with budget, quality and health and safety requirements and for developing a culture of continuous improvement.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Degree in Theatrical Art and Design or other relevant qualification.
  • Extensive experience making props to the highest standards.
  • Team working experience within a complex and busy prop-making Department.
  • Thorough Health and Safety knowledge and understanding of the Health and Safety requirements of workshop practice.
  • Demonstrable ability to supervise the making, sourcing and buying of props and materials.
