The Royal Opera House continues to lead the way in opera, ballet, music and dance live on stage at our heritage theatre site here in Covent Garden, and reaching out to audiences across the UK and worldwide with our cinema screenings and content through other digital platforms. Central to our digital presence is our responsive website, which continues to grow and evolve, serving the digital needs of our audiences, customers and the ambitions of the organization. The website is established as essential to our ticket sales and brings 450k monthly visitors and we are currently working on a major redesign to upgrade the customer experience, as part of our work to `Open Up` the Royal Opera House to even more visitors.

We are now looking for two Junior Developers to join the Digital Development team who will develop their skills in a supervised environment and contribute to the range of projects in the Royal Opera House digital portfolio. Our digital teams work collaboratively in an Agile / scrum environment, and one of our key projects is to deliver a mobile-first customer experience. In these roles, you will receive coaching and guidance from other senior team members and will be expected to manage your own learning, working to an agreed development plan. You will be assigned to project work in small teams, and within 6 months will be able to deliver working, tested code to support new or improved customer experiences as part of the ROH digital estate. The positions are offered as a permanent contract.

The ideal candidates will be strong team players with these qualities:

-Sufficient skills and experience to design and develop server-side and client-side code, such as React JS and PHP 7, for a range of platforms

-A solid understanding of the web`s three main principles: HTTP, URI and HTML and familiarity with accessibility, usability and cross browser issues

-Ability to create reliable and concise documentation

-A related certification in the field of design, programming or development

-The ability to assimilate new information, and develop new skills or hone existing skills, to be able to deliver work to a high standard

-Commitment to managing own learning and continuous professional development relevant to the role
