In October 2024, the Royal Ballet and Opera is staging its first costume sale for over 10 years. We will be selling over 20,000 items from beloved shows includingCarmen, Macbeth, Pique Dame, Gloriana, Etoile, Mahoganny, Cos Fan TutteandAnna Nicole. The items on sale include historical costumes, everyday clothing and shoes for adults and children.

As a volunteer, you will provide vital support to customers and staff to ensure the event runs smoothly. Your contribution will help promote sustainability while raising funds for the Royal Ballet and Opera.

Why we want you

Volunteers will help in a variety of positions:

• Customer Queue Host
• Foyer Host/Packing and Wrapping Helper
• Shoe Room Helper
• Costume Rooms Helper
• Donations Recycling Helper (Monday only)

What you will be doing

• Greeting customers
• Handing out wristbands to ticket holders
• Giving information and answering questions
• Packing and wrapping purchases
• Tidying and sorting shoes
• Keeping the area neat and tidy
• Returning hangers to railings
• Organising costume rails, hat boxes and skips
• Restocking costume rails
• Cutting labels from surplus stock to be made ready for charity donation

This opportunity takes place at High House Production Park (HHPP) in Purfleet, Essex. HHPP can be accessed by a train journey from central London to Purfleet and a 20 minute walk. We will also organise car sharing between volunteers where possible.
