The Royal Ballet & Opera, Opera North and Northen Ballet are collaborating on an exciting partnership offering schools and children in and around Bradford a unique chance to channel their ambitions through song and dance into the hearts and minds of Bradford and far beyond.

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Producer to spearhead the coordination and execution of the Sing, Dance, Leap project. This ambitious undertaking aims to celebrate the imagination and aspirations of young Bradfordians through a collaborative performing arts project culminating in a large-scale performance as a centerpiece of Bradford City of Culture 2025. The Lead Producer will play a pivotal role in realising this vision, overseeing all aspects of project planning, implementation, and stakeholder management.

Project Structure

The project will capture the hopes and dreams of 1,000 children across Bradford through initial creative writing workshops. This will inspire a 35-minute commission which will be delivered by a leading UK composer. The production will consist of 5 sections with the Royal Opera, Royal Ballet, Opera North and Northern Ballet each staging a section via a `sub-project` with a group of participants from Bradford schools. The performance will take place at Bradford Live to an audience of thousands of local children who have participated in a connected school project, and who will be invited to sing the final song of the event.

Position

• Role: Lead Producer
• Contract: 1-year fixed term, 3 days per week, starting ASAP. Can work remotely but will need to travel to Bradford regularly.
• Pay: £34,000 FTE (£20,400 per annum pro rata for 24 hours)

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive project plan encompassing timelines, milestones, and resource allocation in alignment with the project aims and principles.
• Collaborate with partners, including The Royal Ballet and Opera, Opera North, Northern Ballet, and local schools and partners, to ensure effective coordination and communication throughout the project.
• Support the engagement and management of the project team, including the creative team, workshop leaders, artists, and production staff.
• Support the engagement of Bradford schools across the sub-projects.
• Manage the overall project budget, monitoring expenses, and liaising with the project managers to ensure sub-projects are being delivered within budget.
• Liaise with partners, venue staff, and production teams to coordinate logistics for rehearsals, performances, and related events.
• Provide regular progress updates to project stakeholders ensuring transparency and accountability.
• Oversee the evaluation and documentation of project outcomes.

Person Specification:

• Proven experience in producing large-scale performing arts projects, ideally within a community or educational context.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate diverse teams towards a common goal.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Experience working collaboratively with artists, educators, and community stakeholders, with a commitment to fostering inclusivity and diversity.
• Familiarity with project management systems, as well as budgeting and financial management practices.
• Knowledge of the local arts and cultural landscape in Bradford and a passion for supporting the creative aspirations of young people.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and willingness to embrace innovation and experimentation in project delivery.
• Ideally based either in or within commuting distance of Bradford.
