The role:

Our Technical, Production and Costume Department plays a leading part in ensuring our performances are of the highest quality by delivering technical excellence for every performance, rehearsal, and event.

We are now seeking to recruit a Costume Buyer based within the Costume Production team on a 2-year fixed-term basis. You will work with the Costume Production Management team on new, revived, co-productions and hired productions. The role will involve assisting with activities required for sourcing all products; attending rehearsals, performance, and fittings as required; and maintaining a knowledge of the RBO costume database and asset management systems, keeping all production notes and related information up to date.

What you`ll bring:

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • A professional track record working with production theatres or venues, or comparable film/TV experience.
  • Basic knowledge of fabrics modern and traditional methods of construction, periods styles, and history of costumes.
  • Strong communication skills, and a team player with a collaborative approach to working as well as the ability to work unsupervised and show initiative in dealing with day-to-day problems.
  • Good MS Office skills and proficient user of software appropriate to the role.
  • A knowledge of standard opera and ballet repertoire an advantage.
