Job title:
Finance and Contracts Assistant, The Royal Ballet

12 month fixed-term contract; full time, 40 hours per week
£29,000 per annum
Based in: Covent Garden, London

The Royal Ballet and Opera continues to lead the way in opera, ballet, music and dance both live on stage and through multiple digital platforms, from live streaming to worldwide cinema screenings. Our Covent Garden theatre has been at the heart of London and British cultural life for three centuries. We are home to two world-class Companies: The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera.

The Royal Opera House describes the place we work, not who we are. The whole is always more than the sum of its parts - we may be a House, but three quarters of our audience experience what we do outside this building. While our Covent Garden theatre is the nerve centre, the impact and influence of the organisation can be felt in every corner of the country, and around the world.

The Royal Ballet team looks after both the artistic side of our work as well as the administration that supports the creative output. We are now looking for an assistant to join the team, supporting across both Finance and Contracts. This is an exciting role for someone who is keen to learn about the inner workings of a performing arts organisation and is looking to develop their general finance/administration skills

Our ideal candidate will be able to work effectively to manage their own workload and priorities and establish productive working relationships both across the RB Company and with other departments. They will be able to demonstrate:

  • A high level of competency across Microsoft Office - particularly Word and Excel
  • Previous experience of using accounting software systems with an aptitude for learning new systems
  • Strong organisation skills and able to prioritise and deliver high quality work to deadlines with minimal supervision
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail working under pressure

An interest in financial management/accounting as well as a commitment to working toward relevant Finance qualifications will be highly regarded so please do reference this in your application.

The Royal Ballet and Opera is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment in which everyone can thrive. We particularly welcome applications from those who are from a global majority background and/or those who are disabled, as they are under-represented within our organisation. As a Disability Confident Employer, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the essential minimum criteria for our vacancies.
