Up to £30,000 per annum
Permanent position
Full time; 40 hours per week with some flexibility for evening/weekend work
Based on site at ROH Covent Garden
The Royal Ballet and Opera continues to lead the way in opera, ballet, music and dance both live on stage and through multiple digital platforms, from live streaming to worldwide cinema screenings. Our Covent Garden theatre has been at the heart of London and British cultural life for three centuries. We are home to two world-class Companies: The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera.
The Royal Opera House describes the place we work, not who we are. The whole is always more than the sum of its parts - we may be a House, but three quarters of our audiences experience what we do outside this building. While our Covent Garden theatre is the nerve centre, the impact and influence of the organisation can be felt in every corner of the country, and around the world.
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Press Assistant to join the Communications team and provide responsive and effective support across a team covering press, corporate communications and public affairs. In this role, you will support the team in a range of activities, from ticketing and press night duties to logging and monitoring press coverage. This is an ideal opportunity if you are looking to build your career in press and media relations.
Our ideal candidate will be a team player, who has a demonstrated interest in press and media, ideally in the arts sector, can hit the ground running and evidence the following:
- The eagerness to work in a fast-paced press office environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to media workflows and industry practices.
- The ability to quickly understand the needs and working styles of artists, creatives, and theatre professionals.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload under pressure.
- Positive, proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and collaboratively and use initiative.
The Royal Ballet and Opera is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment in which everyone can thrive. We particularly welcome applications from those who are from a global majority background and/or those who are disabled, as they are under-represented within our organisation. As a Disability Confident Employer, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the essential minimum criteria for our vacancies.
