The Royal Opera House (ROH) is home to three of the world`s great performing art companies: The Royal Ballet, The Royal Opera, and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. We aspire to produce great art, telling stories that can speak to universal themes that move us.

We currently have some exciting opportunities to join the Royal Opera House Scenic Carpentry team at the Bob and Tamar Manoukian Production Workshop, our purpose built state-of-the-art 3750 square metre building in Purfleet, Essex. The site contains a scenic construction carpentry workshop, metal workshop, paint studio and fit up area, enabling us to make scenery for the Royal Opera and Royal Ballet companies and the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

We are seeking to appoint a Workshop Assistant to assist with duties for our Carpentry and Metalwork workshops.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience of labouring skills in a workshop environment is desirable.

  • Basic knowledge of workshop machinery and able to undertake basic maintenance tasks.

  • A full clean driving license and ability to drive the ROH van is essential.

  • Previous forklift driving desirable (though training will be given).

  • Strong awareness of and adherence to Health and Safety policy, safe working and best practice.

  • Experience involving the movement of large scenic items an advantage.
