The Royal Opera House aims to enrich people`s lives through opera and ballet. It seeks to be accessible and engaging, to develop audiences across the UK and to break new ground in the presentation of lyric theatre. Our Technical and Production Department plays a leading part in ensuring our performances are of the highest quality by delivering technical excellence for every performance, rehearsal and event. We are seeking to appoint a Senior Draughtsperson to join our Model Room team, working with the Head of Model Room and Production Managers in the realisation and production of scenery and props for opera and ballet productions for the Royal Opera House.

You will ideally have:

  • A professional background in scenic drafting in a theatre environment, working to a demonstrably high level of skills in scenic drafting and model making.
  • Thorough understanding and significant professional experience of AutoCAD, theatre engineering and construction.
  • Experience of working under pressure with a high level of organisational proficiency, ensuring that project deadlines are met while keeping routine tasks up-to-date.
  • Excellent IT skills including Photoshop (or equivalent) and MS office, in addition to any other software appropriate to the role.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a range of internal and external contacts including designers and contractors.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and work to own initiative, particularly in the absence of the Model Room Manager.
