Assistant Stage Managers


2 x Fixed Term Contract posts of up to 6 months duration

Salary: £38,900 per annum pro rata


The Royal Opera House aims to enrich people`s lives through opera and ballet. It seeks to be accessible and engaging, to develop audiences across the UK and to break new ground in the presentation of lyric theatre. Our Technical and Production Department plays a leading part in ensuring our performances are of the highest quality by delivering technical excellence for every performance, rehearsal and event. We are seeking to appoint two ASMs to join our Ballet Stage Management team for the latter half of the 21/22 season.

You will ideally have:

  • Professional stage management experience in theatre and/or ballet, and/or opera, with a degree in Stage Management or equivalent qualification an advantage.
  • An ability to project confidence and exercise tact and diplomacy in relationships with creative teams and artists.
  • Good score reading ability and some experience of prompt book preparation.
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings accurately with experience in mark out procedures.
  • A good understanding of opera or ballet repertoire, knowledge of ROH repertoire an advantage.
  • Strong awareness of and adherence to Health and Safety policy and best practice
