Jette Parker Young Artists Programme Assistant


£24,000 per annum, full time (40 hours per week)

Fixed-term contract (ending December 2022)

The JPYA Programme, now in its 20th year, is a sought-after destination for curious artists of exceptional talent who want to intensify their professional development and take their first steps on the international stage. Singers, music staff and stage directors join the Programme for 2 years as company members, while receiving coaching in all aspects of their craft. They are involved in main house and Linbury Theatre productions and perform regular recitals and guest performances.


The ROH is developing the Programme alongside other initiatives to enable a more diverse group of artists to be nurtured and to more effectively engage the society within which, and for whom, we work.

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant to support the smooth day-to-day operations of the JPYA Programme. The post will develop the candidate`s administrative skills in the context of a large arts organisation. In addition to general administrative support, the role involves specific tasks such as audition administration, scheduling work and event co-ordination.


This is a fantastic opportunity for someone seeking to develop a career in arts administration. The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Administrative experience.
  • Excellent IT skills, which must include all Microsoft Office functions (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn Microsoft Access and DIESE artistic planning software.
  • Proven accuracy and attention to detail, with excellent proof-reading skills.
  • Proven ability to work in an organized manner, with a systematic approach and ability to juggle effectively multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Excellent spoken and written English, with a good grasp of English grammar.
  • Enthusiasm to learn more about classical music and opera and to support developing artists.
