The Royal Opera House continues to lead the way in opera, ballet, music and dance both live on stage and through multiple digital platforms, from live streaming to worldwide cinema screenings. The Technology Services and Infrastructure team works to provide a service to all departments across the Royal Opera House Group, who depend on a variety of essential technology services every day.

We are now looking for a Network A/V Engineer to join the Technology Infrastructure team, in a new role, working closely with the Film and Broadcast team on the network A/V needs for our live events. Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, you will work on the design and delivery of network AV solutions to meet business needs, including installing and operating equipment for our live events. You will need to be able to work to a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. This is a very good opportunity to work on some high profile projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team and with some of the latest technology in network A/V.


The ideal candidate will be a team player with these qualities:


  • Networking skills and previous experience of installing, configuring, maintaining, monitoring and troubleshooting of network hardware and software
  • Experience in the use of Audio-visual technologies, storage, networking protocols, virtualization and connectivity in multi-platform enterprise environments
  • Knowledge of media production and communication with:
  • Understanding of Audio and Video compression and distribution
  • Knowledge of MPEG Transport Streams and other encoding profiles
  • Experience of working in a service delivery role and good knowledge of the ITIL Framework
  • Ability to manage your time to deliver to agreed timescales your activity for agreed projects
  • Commitment to managing own learning and continuous professional development relevant to the role
