Starting salary: £38,900 pa

Fixed term maternity leave contract for up to 12 months

Based in Covent Garden, London

The Royal Opera House Costume Performance team works closely with each production overseeing the costume for the Royal Ballet, the Royal Opera and visiting companies. Working with artists and production teams, technicians undertake all performance related Footwear requirements for changeovers, rehearsals and performances to ensure all aspects of each production is prepared, to the highest of standards.

We are seeking to recruit a Senior Footwear Technician to join our Costume Performance Team to work in Ballet Footwear. This role will require evening and weekend scheduling.

Can you demonstrate any of the following ...

  • Experience in show related preparation, sewing, fabrics technology, painting, dyeing, colour matching, repairing and modification techniques.
  • Good organisational skills and an eye for detail.
  • An understanding in footwear design or manufacture or a qualification from an accredited source would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrable understanding of Health and Safety relevant to the provision of specific dance/theatre footwear (pointe shoes/historical footwear) and able to contribute to risk assessments.
  • A good knowledge of ballet repertoire an advantage.
