Assistant Manager Production Stage


Permanent Contract

Starting salary: £42,400 pa

The Royal Opera House aims to enrich people`s lives through opera and ballet. It seeks to be accessible and engaging, to develop audiences across the UK and to break new ground in the presentation of lyric theatre. Our Technical and Production Department plays a leading part in ensuring our performances are of the highest quality by delivering technical excellence for every performance, rehearsal and event. We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Manager to help lead one of our Production Stage teams, managing a group to ensure operational and production requirements of rehearsals and performances are carried out to the highest possible standard of safety, efficiency and quality.

You will ideally have:

  • Substantial stage technical experience to a high level in a major producing theatre, preferably with experience in a repertory house.
  • A positive leadership style, leading by example
  • An appreciation of both technical and aesthetic aspects of performance, demonstrating a broad range of technical skills and understanding.
  • Experience of working with automated systems including flying and elevator systems an advantage.
  • An IOSH health and safety qualification with experience of working to CDM2015
  • Demonstrable understanding of Health and Safety legislation relevant to theatre and able to undertake accurate and suitable risk assessments.
