Our Technical, Production and Costume Department plays a leading role in ensuring our performances are of the highest quality by delivering excellence for every performance, rehearsal and event. We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Director with a focus on Technical and Stages to join our growing and dynamic team, working closely with the Technical, Production and Costume Director to lead over 300 permanent and 400 casual staff.


You will need to have a proven track record at a senior management level with a major producing venue or organisation. Demonstrable experience of managing a large scale, complex operation is essential, as is the ability to lead and influence in a fast paced, demanding environment.

This role requires comprehensive technical skills, with a thorough understanding of stage technologies, and an up to date working knowledge of equipment and systems across multiple disciplines. You will lead across stage, lighting, video and broadcast, events and logistics for both ROH Main stage and Linbury Theatre. A strong commitment to health and safety in a technical setting along with an IOSH qualification and working knowledge of CDM2015 is also essential.

Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record in theatre technical management, be a confident and dynamic leader, with the ability to foster an inclusive and productive working culture in which the ROH productions and staff can thrive. You will lead by example, building strong working relationships both internally and externally with our production partners.

As well as the ability to manage people, this role will also require project, resource and budget management expertise, with the ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve under pressure.
