Finance Systems Accountant

£55,000 - £60,000 per annum, dependent on skills and experience

Full-time (40 hours per week), permanent contract


The Royal Opera House continues to lead the way in opera, ballet, music and dance both live on stage and through multiple digital platforms, from live streaming to worldwide cinema screenings. To support our ambitions, we are undertaking a range of business transformation projects, utilising technology platforms to ensure our functions run efficiently and effectively.

Our Finance Department is now looking for an experienced Systems Accountant to join the central Finance team. Reporting into the Director of Finance, the postholder will be pivotal in representing Finance interests on upcoming projects and systems work - including firstly the implementation of a new integrated HR, Payroll and scheduling system.


We are looking for someone who can support a culture of high performance and customer care. This role will suit a candidate with exceptional attention to detail, who can pivot and adapt in changing circumstances, as we look to transform ways of working. The ability to assimilate new information and learn routine procedures at pace is key, as well strong communication and interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate will be an experienced team player, who can demonstrate the following:

  • Experience of successfully implementing complex integrated Finance systems within a midscale/large organisation.
  • Experience of maintaining integrations between Finance and other business critical systems.
  • Practical experience and understanding of core Finance and Payroll processes.
  • Excellent influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people within and outside the organisation, including non-financial colleagues.
  • Demonstrable business analysis skills with the ability to deliver accurate and relevant process maps of Finance systems and processes.
  • Part qualified or Qualified accountant from one of the CCAB-recognised Accountancy bodies or equivalent (ACCA, CIMA, ACA etc.)
