Production Lighting Senior Manager


Permanent position; 42.5 hours per week

£56,805.84 per annum

Our Technical, Production and Costume Department plays a leading part in ensuring our performances are of the highest quality by delivering technical excellence for every performance, rehearsal and event.

Our Lighting Department is committed to delivering artistic concepts and exceptional live performances whilst considering the impact of our work on the environment and sustainability. The Department is split into 4 specialist divisions; Production Lighting, Lighting Control and Visualisation, Follow Spots and Lighting Systems.

We are looking to appoint a Senior Manager to lead one of four Production Lighting Teams, with responsibility for the delivery of assigned shows alongside the Stage and Production Management teams. This role will oversee the technical installation of each show in addition to having the opportunity to work closely with Designers and the Deputy Heads of Lighting to light and relight shows. As well as being a subject matter expert in lighting, they will need to have a proven track record at management level with a major producing venue or organisation and be able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities.

Our ideal candidate will be a passionate, skilled professional with a pragmatic, collaborative approach and the ability to work consistently under pressure. They will be able to demonstrate:

  • An excellent track record of team leadership in a major producing theatre (experience in the staging of opera and ballet productions will be advantageous).
  • Substantial technical experience in Lighting at a major producing theatre, preferably with experience in a repertory house.
  • A keen appreciation of both the technical and aesthetic aspects of performance, evidencing a broad range of technical skills and understanding.
  • Strong relationship management skills, with a positive leadership style and open approach to communication.
  • An understanding of CDM 2015 and other industry relevant health and safety legislation along with appropriate qualifications such as IOSH Managing Safely and BS7909.
