The Royal Opera House (ROH) is home to three of the world`s great performing art companies: The Royal Ballet, The Royal Opera, and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. We aspire to produce great art, telling stories that can speak to universal themes that move us.

We currently have some exciting opportunities to join the Royal Opera House Scenic Metalwork team at the Bob and Tamar Manoukian Production Workshop, our purpose built state-of-the-art 3750sq metre building in Purfleet, Essex. The site contains a scenic construction carpentry workshop, metal workshop, paint studio and fit up area, enabling us to make scenery for the Royal Opera and Royal Ballet companies and the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Scenic Metalworker to support operational demands ensuring that all scenic construction metalwork activities are carried out to the highest possible standard of safety, efficiency, and quality.

This role will suit a candidate who can demonstrate strong creative crafting skills within a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A recognised metalwork/welding qualification
  • Knowledge and experience of metalwork manufacture using modern and traditional techniques.
  • Metalwork skills including sheet metalwork, welding steel/aluminum structures.
  • Knowledge of Mig/Tig/Arc.
  • An ability to work from scale drawings, models, plans, sketches and verbal references.
