Creative Producer (Opera)

Permanent Contract

The Linbury Theatre will reopen as a world class venue for mid-scale opera and dance, reflecting the principles and values that we see on our main stage. Programmed by the Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet, the companies will produce work, encourage the development of artists and the art forms, as well as present productions by, and in collaboration with, other national and international opera and dance companies. The Theatre will also provide a platform for showcasing some of our learning and participation performance programme. Our public foyer spaces will be open to welcome visitors throughout the day, and will be enlivened with a broad programme of both public and private events - from bandstand performances to tea dances, gala dinners and conferences.

In advance of the re-opening we are seeking to appoint to the new role of Creative Producer for the Royal Opera. Reporting to the Director of Opera, the Creative Producer (Opera) will have responsibility for creating and realising bold, adventurous projects in the Linbury and other off-site Royal Opera Company productions, within the parameters of the Royal Opera Strategy. The Creative Producer (Opera) will also have a key role in advising the Director of Opera on artistic matters. Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Exceptional knowledge of the ecology of contemporary opera;
  • Well established experience of the process of opera producing;
  • Experience of developing and maintaining an outstanding network of key contacts in the opera world; and
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation and influencing skills, with a style that will inspire the trust and commitment of others.

We actively encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds and value the positive impact difference has on our teams.
