Assistant Head Scenic Artist


£37,164 pa. Based in Purfleet, Essex

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team of Scenic Artists at the Bob and Tamar Manoukian Production Workshop, our purpose built state-of-the-art building in Purfleet, Essex. Our paint studio has sufficient floor space for three full sized Opera House painted cloths, as well as a vertical paint frame on which we can work on a fourth. There is also a fit-up area enabling the build of all our scenery prior to its scheduled build in the Opera House.

The Assistant Head Scenic Artist works with a team of Scenic Artists to paint, repair and modify painted stage scenery to design specifications using a wide range of techniques, materials and finishes for the Royal Opera and Royal Ballet companies and the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

The successful candidate will be a very experienced Scenic Artist, who has worked extensively on major international Opera and Ballet stage scenery and will have experience of staff management within a scenic artist environment.

The position is on a 40 hour Monday-Friday 9.00am - 5.30pm basis, though may involve paid overtime, working during evenings and weekends.
