Actors for production of Romeo and Juliet with The Royal Ballet


Short term contract: c.3 months from mid-March 2019

The Royal Ballet, one of the leading classical ballet companies in the world, will be presenting Romeo and Juliet on the main stage at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Rehearsal and performance dates run for circa three months from mid-March 2019. Some performances of Romeo and Juliet will be filmed, and one performance will be shown as a live cinema relay.

We are looking for 32 actors, 21 who are male, or of male appearance, and 11 who are female, or of female appearance, to join the cast of Romeo and Juliet. It is a requirement of the contract to attend each scheduled call for costume fittings, rehearsals and performances. Payment is based on a three hour session, plus holiday pay, and provision for overtime if required. It is a requirement of the role to attend filmed rehearsals and performances. A media fee will be paid to cover filming of the live cinema relay.

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate these qualities:

-Proven experience as an actor in ballet, or similar large scale theatre productions

-Ability to follow movement instructions for a given role and as choreographed for the production

-Musicality and ability to follow musical cues

-The highest standards of attendance, reliability and professionalism with availability for rehearsals and performances on set dates

-Ability to work under direction and to respond in a positive way to feedback

-Demonstrated capacity for effective teamwork and harmonious working relationships
