Daily Team Stage Technician (Stage bias)

(Grade 1) £31,888 per annum


The Royal Opera House produces some of the best opera and ballet in the world. Our Technical Department plays a leading part in ensuring our performances are of the highest quality by delivering technical excellence for every performance and rehearsal.

We are currently recruiting for 2 experienced Stage Technicians with a stage bias, one permanent and one for a fixed term contract for 15 months.

The work entails assembling and setting scenery, hangings and props, rigging, special effects and lighting. Working on a day on/day off shift basis in a large team, the technician will work primarily with a stage bias. The ideal candidates will be strong team players and communicators with:

  • a strong technical track record in running live theatre rehearsals and performances establishments primarily for the staging of opera and ballet productions
  • demonstrable experience in all key technical areas, particularly with stage bias: stage, engineering, flying, rigging, props, lighting and sound
  • strong communication skills and be a team player.

In addition, any professional mechanical, carpentry electrical, or computer skills would be advantageous. Awareness of Health and Safety is important, and appropriate Health and Safety training is provided.
