Scenic Construction Draughts-person


Initial 2-year fixed term contract

Based in Purfleet, Essex

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Scenic Draughts-person to prepare, amend and update scenic construction drawings in order to assist the Head of Construction in the realization and production of scenery for opera and ballet productions at the Royal Opera House.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Scenic Construction team at the Bob and Tamar Manoukian Production Workshop, our purpose built state-of-the-art 3750 sq metre building in Purfleet, Essex. At the site we have a scenic construction carpentry workshop, metal workshop, paint studio and fit up area, enabling us to make scenery for the Royal Opera and Royal Ballet companies and the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience in scenic construction draughting
  • A detailed understanding of theatre structural engineering, metalwork, carpentry and scenic construction
  • Demonstrable 2D and 3D AutoCad (or equivalent) skills and knowledge of Photoshop.
