Home to two of the world`s great artistic companies -The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera, performing with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House - the organisation seeks to be accessible and engaging, to develop audiences across the UK and to break new ground in the presentation of lyric theatre.

The Royal Ballet, one of the leading classical ballet companies in the world, is seeking to appoint a Ballet Master on a permanent basis. Working with the company of over 90 dancers, the Ballet Master is a member of the Artistic team, led by the Rehearsal Director, responsible for their performance preparation, learning and development and day to day supervision and related management and administration matters. As a member of the teaching staff, the Ballet Master will act as an ambassador for The Royal Ballet, internally and externally.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced team player able to demonstrate these qualities:

  • A proven track record in teaching, rehearsing and developing professional dancers at all levels, to the highest standards
  • A detailed knowledge of the classical repertoire and where possible of Royal Ballet productions
  • Ability to motivate and coach people to perform and achieve superior results
  • Ability to ensure smooth running of day to day operations within a busy schedule
  • Ability to promote effective teamwork, trust and harmonious working relationships at all levels
  • Commitment to managing own learning and professional development relevant to the role
