IT Director

Permanent Contract

The Royal Opera House continues to lead the way in opera, ballet, music and dance live on stage at our heritage theatre site here in Covent Garden, and reaching out to audiences across the UK and worldwide with our cinema screenings and content through other digital platforms. Our Technology team service a broad range of requirements across the organisation working across a multi-site environment. This includes all our business critical systems, from customer facing and marketing to scheduling and finance, management of all infrastructure services, data security and cybersecurity. In addition, we have a remit to develop our role as a sector leader in technology.

We are now looking for an experienced IT Director to develop and deliver the technology strategy across the organisation, to realise our ambitions in technology and continue to find greater efficiencies and productivity gains across our operations. You will be familiar with reporting on technology governance at board level, and how to engage successfully with a complex group of stakeholders. Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders, in this role, you will lead a culture of innovation, continuous professional development and continuous improvement across the team.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced team leader with these qualities:

  • Experience at Director level envisioning technology strategies to meet business objectives, and managing successful communications with governance boards and stakeholders
  • Experience of delivering network, technical architecture and technology infrastructure services in a complex, multi-site environment
  • Experience of managing a range of technology services for a complex business and multiple user groups
  • Highly effective management of resources and budgets
  • Excellent relationship management skills, and a consultative and collaborative working style
  • Excellent communication skills with both non-technical and technical audiences, able to articulate key messages with confidence
